Bertoletti Takes Date Nut Bread-Eating Contest

Chicago eater Patrick Bertoletti won the Choc Full o' Nuts Date Nut Bread-Eating Contest at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan by consuming 29 date nut bread sandwiches in eight minutes.

Bertoletti, who narrowly led second-place finisher Joey Chestnut throughout the contest, won $2,500 for his efforts. Chestnut finished with 26 sandwiches and Humble Bob Shoudt took third place with with 18 3/4 sandwiches.

The event was held in the grand entrance hall to the historic Madison Square Garden, whihc is now celebrating the 50 greatest moments in the arena's history. This event was the 51st greatest moment in MSG history.
