GoldenPalace.net Exits Eating World--WEB EXCLUSIVE
Competitive Eating News has learned that the green chile grilled cheese-eating contest on September 23 was the final GoldenPalace.net World Series event of 2006.
This year's World Series tour, considered the perfect marriage of pageantry, gurgitation and prize money, provided many memorable competitions from Boston to Las Vegas. In fact, Takeru Kobayashi set a world lobster roll-eating record (41 in 10 minutes) in Boston and in Joey Chestnut set the world grilled cheese-eating record (47 in 10 minutes) in Las Vegas.
This weekend's Jalapeno Championship at the State Fair of Texas will be sponsored by Major League Eating and the IFOCE will provide the prize money of $4,000. The MLE will also sponsor the October 28 fry-bread-eating contest in Arizona. However, the prize money has been eliminated.
The GoldenPalace.net event at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta scheduled for Wednesday is cancelled, as is the Pickle Eating Championship at the North Carolina State Fair.
